Well went out on this Thursday night, three or four other people were out as well. Saw a lot of moving around and no fish being caught. I managed one small bullhead and as my rules go. If I catch bullhead jigging I leave the lake and never to return. I'm sure there are other fish in there and possibly good ones but I'm not messing around with sorting through bullheads when there are better lakes in the area to fish. I also heard it had a massive fish kill three years ago, that'll set it back about ten years in my opinion, The hardy bullheads and catfish will out live everything else that would die off sooner with those low oxygen levels. It might need some time to heal and populate enough to make it worth my time. If there were or are any pike or walleye in there, they should be fine seeing how a pike can survive its life in 2ppm Oxy and walleye can live for weeks at 2ppm Oxy. Might be worth setting tip ups sometime if there are any in there.

My guess is Every lake south of HWY 20 will have unsafe ice at this current time. Some lakes by the end of this week will have safe ice Around the Waterloo Cedar Falls Area. Starting Next week It is going to be super cold and every lake in the state should be froze over by the weekend of the 16th But as always check the ice and be safe, check the ice yourself or hire your neighbor for a day, lol.

Hello there, Anyone from Black Hawk County fish this lake any info would be helpful. I see a lot of empty worm containers around the lake so that leads me to believe there are fish in there. I'm going to try it Jan 9th and 10th and see what happens. I hear there are good channel cats but I'm looking more for perch, bluegill or crappie. Anyone catch fish out here besides cats?
