Have the walleye moved in yet?

Spent last weekend below the dam. The pocket below the dam on the Illinois side has nice size sauger. We caught ours on double rapalas in firetiger or purple descent colors. 25 foot of water was best for us. Others were Dubuque rigging minnows and hovering in the pocket. Friday night we pitched black hair jigs on the Iowa side and against the dam on the Illinois side with fast action for white Bass. Lots of grass coming down made fishing the Iowa side almost impossible.
There are 2 bait shops in Bellevue. one is located at the north end of the boat ramp at the dam and one us in the gas station on the south side of town before you go over the new bridge.
Dan at Riverview Enterprises has a fifth wheel trailer for 50 dollars a night with electric hookups but he was getting ready to winterize it. There are cabins for rent in town but don't have the name of them.

Spent Monday evening up by the dam. Caught 3 saugers pitching purple ringworms and hair jigs against the button factory shoreline. Had a few white Bass as well. Fish were in 5 ft or less.

Fished from shore for a half hour yesterday. Pitched purple/white tail ringworms along the rocks below the dam. Caught 3 -16 inch sauger right away and then had to go watch the Cubs game. Plan on hitting it this evening and this weekend. Water is cleaning up and the stable river levels should help the bite. I'll post some pics this weekend. Get out and enjoy!

Went to crooked slough Sunday afternoon to try for some crappies and bluegill. Started in a backwater lake with 6 feet of water and fished brush piles with no bites on crawlers and minnows. Moved back out to crooked slough and found brush in 9 to 11 feet and got 3 crappies. 2 came on half a crawler and 1 on a minnow. Tried a couple more brush piles without success. Water is still moving fast but they have put the middle rollers back in at the dam.

Lots of debris in the river Sunday. Rollers at the dam are all out of the water. Started walleye fishing in a back cut. Marked lots of bait fish but no walleyes pulling slow death and plastics on Dubuque rigs. Lots of grass made it hard to stay in the water. Decided to try trees in crooked slough for crappies and glad we did. 10 ft of water with current and brush produced some nice crappies. Mom caught the first one that measured 13.5 inches and Dad caught the next at 14.5 inches. Pulling minnows thru the brush with a modified drop shot rig.
