Of the Valpo chain of lakes, Flint Lake is the best for bigger bass, nice sized pike and blue gill. The Northwestern side of the lake near the beach area has a good weed bed growth in the spring and in to the summer. Rip lipless cranks, spinner baits and jerk baits to catch some nice sized bass (2lbs. plus) and pike (24in. plus). The Southwestern side of the lake offers a lot of nice docks and shallow sandy flat and some laydowns. Work jigs around the docks and laydowns for some good bass action; early spawners can be caught here. Move to the Northeast side of the lake and work medium cranks for pre-spawners and then move up and work the docks on the North eastern side to the North side with jigs and soft jerk baits. Flint has a decent shallow boat launch with a sandy bottom. Not a lot of room for parking, maybe enough for 5 trucks and trailers. Of the Valpo chain, Flint does not see a lot of action in the spring through fall because of the limited parking, get there early and enjoy your day!
