Fished the Tippecanoe near Winamac on Sunday (2/12). Only fished for about 30 minutes but had one good bite dragging a white tube in 4-6 ft of water. With the sun and warmer temps this week I'm thinking fish will be active next weekend.

River is high and fast right now, Winamac received almost 4 inches of rain on Friday. Hopefully it comes back down quickly for fall fishing!

Talked to someone that was on the river over the weekend. They ended up catching 6 smallmouth and 11 pike. Fish were caught on white KVD tubes. Water around Winamac is muddy with the recent rains but water levels are still fairly shallow.

Wade fishing over the weekend produced about 40 smallmouth. Mostly small fish right now but a few were close to two pounds. Baits that produced over the weekend were small twister tails on a jig head retrieved at a slow pace, three inch senkos, weightless flukes, and Pop R's. Water is super shallow around Winamac right now, will be interesting to see what the projected 2 inches of rain does to the water.

Fished the Tippy around Winamac today and Monday (8/1). Caught around 30 smallmouth between the two days, with several over a pound and 4 over 2 pounds. Also, for the first time ever, caught a largemouth that weighed 3 pounds. Hot baits right now are pop r's, weightless flukes and 3 inch senkos. What clarity is great and the current is fairly slow, Great time to be on the river! Beware, avoid river north of Winamac on the weekends or you'll run into about 700 Chicago residents on tubes.

Thinking about a float near Winimac on Saturday. Wondering what the water level is like.

Fishing has been really good the last two days. The water levels are down and clarity is improving daily. This weekend should offer some great action!

Waters have been on the rise around Winamac with all of the rain last week but the fish have still been cooperating. Over the weekend caught several smallmouth and a few rock bass mixed in. All fish were caught on KVD tubes. Fish are hanging out off the main channel around wood so expect some break offs.

Haschel's Bridge (located northeast of Winamac on CR 250N) to the Winamac town park is a great section that should be about a 4 hour trip while fishing. Public access is available at Haschel's Bridge.

Looking to float a section of Tippecanoe for good catch and release smallmouth action. Any recommendations for a 4 hour float?
