Inspired by stories of the success others have had, I finally goy out to fish in my backyard, the DuPage River in Shorewood. Got out shortly after sunrise, wading. Slow at first, but got a couple of dinks and a nice 15" smally, all on a Rapala Scatterrap shad, green in color.

I have lived near the river for three years now and this is my first summer actually fishing it. No disappointments whatsoever. I have made four trips to my favorite spot in the last three weeks. My son actually found the spot where the big dogs hang and either I or my guest have always caught at least one over 14 inches at the spot. I cant wait to see the water levels rise to see if it improves the fishing action.
