History & Status of the Fishery
Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park is currently closed for renovations. It will be reopened in 2021 with new roads and parking lots. The lake was drained for a leak repair and excavation of excess sediment within the lake.

As a native of NW Illinois (Whiteside County), now currently living in SW Virginia, one thing I really miss the most are the many family visits to Lake Le-Aqua-Na as a child! The reason why I score Lake Le-Aqua-Na as AWESOME is because, as an adult now, I have kept Lake Le-Aqua-Na memories close to my heart and, though I have spent a childhood visiting and fishing many lakes and rivers throughout Illinois, Lake Le-Aqua-Na has ALWAYS been my favorite!! I will never forget my youngest memories, or the family trips, of this wonderful lake!!

I fished for four hours on my kayak throwing everything from rubber worms, dare-devil spoons, spinner-baits, and I ended with trolling crank baits. I managed one measly bass on a chartuse rapala crankbait,
I talked to the Super-attendant of the park and he said when they most recently shocked the lake there was 5-6 lb bass.
He didn't know much on the northern population but said most people go there to fish for panfish and channel catfish.
