This is a nice lake. Good size to fish nearly all of it in one day. Have not had a great deal of luck bass fishing the few times I have fished this lake, but it does have them, and lots of crappie, too. It also has even more catfish. The catfish are hungry in this lake and will "sometimes" strike lures and will "often" hit your minnows. So, if you are crappie fishing with light gear hold on tight! You really never know what is going to hit your lure next, which makes it a fun lake to fish. The lake also has a nice, but small, campground and some lots for yearly rental, which makes it a convenient place for a multi-day fishing trip. My understanding is that the city of Gillespie will be increasing the number of lots on this lake in early 2015 as well.

If indeed your scouting crappie on this lake .. i do recomend fishing at 4 to 5 feet deep in 8 to 10 foot of water... lake condition is murky... so use whites and dark colored jigs ... a favorite of mine right now is anything with orange and black in it! i've been catching between 10" and 12 " slabs .. not the biggest of crappie but the bite is soon on its way! still alittle early! just be sure not to fish my hot spots! lol just kidding! have a good time and haul them slabs in!

I rate this a 4 and not a 5 because we caught this awesome lake before and after some major storms! Many of us fished this lake for 2 days, over 10 bass close to 4 lbs. 1 over 5. Sencos and bandit cranks.
