Loon Lake

Hi Dave - Yeah that was me. Never did get the big motor started so we just used the electric trolling motor. Had no problems getting to East Loon and back. It was a bit slow yesterday, we also got a couple of ok bass and a pike. I think after the warmer weather this week things will really get going.

Beautiful fish Mr. G! Think we met at the ramp yesterday…must say your fish beats mine from yesterday :).  Was a really nice day though and both lakes in prime shape (high but not flooded stage). 

Wasn't too sure if there were any muskies in the Loon lakes these days. Apparently, there are. Got this healthy looking young musky yesterday morning.

Good afternoon!  Planning on taking my son out on West Loon tomorrow morning.  Has anyone had luck with largies lately?  The last time we visited, we were able to catch and release about 6, nothing of great size but still fun.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks and tight lines!!

Phill Z; LOL. If you had seen me struggling to catch my rear-end this morning, you’d be hard pressed to give me the “Loon Lake Master” title! But youre right, both Loons are solid places to fish. I did get 5 this morning with this 17”, 2.5lb largie the biggest.  As far as “hours”, there aren’t any. Come and go when you please. $20 launch fee honor box. BTW, water is VERY low. Had real trouble getting through the channel between East and West. Have fun and good luck!

McHenry Dave seems to be the consummate Loon Lake master. I’m not digging for info from anyone, just wondering what the hours are there? I’ve never fished it & it’s time to put my 1968 StarCraft on it.  A few of you guys have proven there are some solid fish in that water.

As far as I know there is only one “public “ (for $20) launch accessing either lake; the launch is off Vila Rica road just east of the railroad tracks on Grass Lake Rd. at Rt. 83. There is a shallow ( currently very- 1.2 feet under my Lund) channel between West Loon (where launch is) into East Loon. Might want to just use electric motor to get through.

There are special “regulations” (limits/sizes) posted at the launch. Please practice catch/release on game fish.Tight lines.

McHenry Dave where did you launch ? If on West was it easy to get to East ? ?

Last week or two very hot on both East and West Loon. A buddy and I got 20+ bass (all released) and a slew of uninvited Northern Pike. 8-10 feet, find weeds amd you’ll find fish. Hitting anything plastic; Senkos, Power Worms, lizards, whatchagot. Largies running decent size, but most of the really big girls have moved deeper.

Did fish West and East Loon lakes from shore spots 6.00 am to 9.00 am. using tops.No bites.Water low.Shore line weedy like on other lakes.Talk to a couple boat guys,not very good day for everybody.
