Newton Lake is located in Jasper County, approximately 6 miles southwest of Newton, Illinois and 18 miles southeast of Effingham, Illinois.
Tournaments: Tournaments are prohibited in June, July, and August.

Site Regulations:
Largemouth, Smallmouth or Spotted Bass: 3 fish daily limit; 18" minimum length limit
White, Black or Hybrid Crappie: 10 fish daily limit; 10" minimum length limit
White Bass: Unlimited except no more than 3 fish over 17"

The sport fishery in Newton Lake is best known for the largemouth bass fishery. Other conventional sport fish include white bass, channel catfish, crappie, and bluegill. Drove 2 hrs. to lake , got on water at 12;00 noon and fished till 3;30 pm with my son. caught several fish, we had 2 fish that went 3lbs, and 1 that went 4 lbs plus several smaller ones. everything was caught on jig and craw. again great lake we will be back again!

1-14-10, started at 7;00 am went up to hot water end around riprap, throwing char. and white spinner bait and black and blue jig. caught 2 fish 5lbs and 2fish 3lbs plus several other nice fish.saw several other boats with nice fish beihg caught. left the water at 2;00 pm with total of 14 fish caught. I drive 110 miles to the lake, I am from the Danville Il. area. It's the best 2 hour drive there is to fish. going bach monday to try again. great lake everyone should try winter hot water fishing at least once!
