YES...I wish they would do away with all bank poles, jug lines, hoop nets and all commercial fishing of catfish if I had my way. Rod and reel only! I don't see them commercial fishing other species.

Agreed! Rep McCombie said she filed the bill because of a constituent request. Just find it hard to believe that one person can get a Representative to act on an issue that affects over 100 miles of river and the fishermen that use it. DNR does not support this and their creel surveys show  a very healthy population of channel cats.

Those of us living in Whiteside county know this is nothing but a by-product of one man's feud with the DNR.

I hope Oldandtired is is right. I talked to Tony McCombie yesterday. The bill was filed with the clerk,First read on the floor, and sent to the Rules committee on February 6th. She said it is going to sit there until the DNR completes another creel survey on the river this year. She did say that it will have to go through a committee from the DNR.

The proposed bill has been pulled. It's a dead issue now. The DNR did not support it. Flathead may have limits in the future but not channel cats. This comes from the DNR Chief of Fisheries, Mr. Dan Stephenson.  I know, I asked.

This is what we are dealing with now in WI trying to stop it.

We need to stop this bill now! I do not agree at all! I see the link does not come up. State Rep Treig E. Pronschinske introduced a bill to allow catfish to be taken by bow and arrow or noodling. Its headed to the Senate. We need to be sending out emails or calling now.
