MOON PHASE (79%)
Waning Gibbous

CONDITIONS
Cloudy

ICE DEPTH
7 inches

AIR TEMP
31° - 35° F

I fished Saturday the 14th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  Moved around a bit, but only drilled 8 holes.  Started in 12 foot of water with a medium roach on a tip-up, and jigged with a minnow and then changed to a wax worm.  Had only one bite on minnow.  Eventually, I moved to 5 foot of water, and had a lot of bites on a jig tipped with a wax worm, but really small pecks, couldn't get a hook set.

Went back out with my son at 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Fished in 8 foot of water, had 2 tip-ups set with roaches, nothing.  We both were jigging right off of the bottom with wax worms, and my son caught 5 largemouth bass and I caught 1 largemouth bass.  I told him if anyone asks how big they were, to just say they were on the smaller side.  It was embarrassing.  I kid you not, the 6 bass that we caught were all under 2 inches.  Yep, 2 inches. It was hilarious. I'm guessing that was what was biting my waxworm in the morning because we were in the same vicinity.

Almost forgot, in the morning, a guy next to me said he caught a perch.  Didn't know there were perch in there.

Thanks for the update JKenny, my son and I were going to take a drive out there yesterday.  Glad I didn't, based on your ice report.

Sunny

ICE DEPTH

AIR TEMP
36° - 40° F

Went out today from 12:00 to 3:00,  2 dink blue gills and a  8" crappie.  The day was cut short due to deterating ice conditions.  Very soft ice with spider wholes everywhere and even a open spot on the north end of the main lake where there may be a fresh water spring. As I was leaving the ice was sagging and soft.  I wouldn't recommend going out for the next few days until thing tighten back up.  Be safe and Happy Holidays.

If you are referring to the small lake way in the back. Yes fish are very active right now generally Northern Pike. We have been getting them on Slip-N-Roaches. And have caught a few bass here and there. Hope this helps

Does anyone fish this small lake anymore? I have not been there in 20 years. Never caught much out of there. Back then it was in need to be managed properly and stocked! You never hear anything about Pratt?

Came down from WI to go fishing with my brother yesterday 2/28/10 and we fished Pickerel Lake. My brother had fished there a couple of times, and it was my first. We saw varied ice thickness, by shore there was at least one spot of open water and really thin ice, but once on the ice our holes had more than 16". Perhaps if you know the lake, you'll have plenty more fishing opportunities yet this year.

We each had out a tip-up and were jigging. My brother caught an 18" largemouth on a tip-up, CPR'ed. And it took me all morning and the beginning of the afternoon to both find and pattern some panfish. Never did hook up on any gills, but ended up catching a few dozen SMALL crappies (4-5"). While we had no keepers, it was a ton of fun challenging myself on a new lake and hanging out with my brother.

As an aside, I thought it was totally awesome to see people bringing their kids, grandkids, and wives out ice-fishing!

Just my thought here, I would not move to were I just pulled in a Pike. I have been fishing a really good hole and doing well, seen pike move through the area and all other fish leave. That really turns the fishing off for a while.

Went out about 11:00 am, fished one of the middle lakes. first checked the ice seemed weak around the edges and strong in the middle around 6-7 inches where we checked. dropped the camera in many spots but saw no action. We finally set up and had no bites and marked 0 fish. When we decided to move the guy with me had some action on the tip-up. He pullled her in and it was a nice smaller pike. So we moved by the tip-up and got no action. Moved to the front lake and must have drilled 20 holes and set up 3-4 times and finally called it a day. Crying

Has anyone been out to check the ice conditions? I am guessing that there is not too much but I was wondering if it is getting close. Thanks in advance. Diver
