Pictures from Oak Park at about 10:30am on February 3rd 2017. If it looks like water, it is water. Shore looked good, didn't get out and check the ice thickness. One shack out - see picture.
Fished the Bay this morning for a few hours. I fished 10-16' and the ice was 6-7". However there is still open water farther east and north from the lounge.
Pretty slow. Very cold even with shelter so I didn't move around much.
MOON PHASE (38%)
I'd be real careful on Pistakee right now, with the current that flows through there and the warmer temps recently, I would spud my way out there. Should be ok with the colder temps by next week.
I am still new to this ice fishing thing, I love it though. Thank you all for your help and advice so far.
I've heard that postage bay has good bluegill fishing in it, I fished the bay two winters ago and only ever found white bass (small), some catfish, drum and an occasional crappie (nice size though).
i typically went in at oak park and headed to the south a bit but stayed in 10-14 FOW. I have a camera soni could see the large schools of drums and cats come through. Amazingly large schools.
could anyone go be me any help on finding gills on this water? I want to try someplace other than Channel.
thabks in advance for any and all advice.
