Hey pike man. I live in Will County and all of our small ponds have anywhere from 7 to 10 inches of ice on them. I just got back from 1 today they had a solid 10 inches on it. I wouldn't worry about tomorrow but I might worried on Monday if you want to go. Either way you have to be careful out there good luck

Stopped by a local small pond in DeKalb County today for about 30 minutes. Caught a couple fish.

Didn't search all over the pond and it is small, maybe 2 acre with a Max depth of 8-10 feet deep and it has four inches where I fished.....F.P.

><>  Hello Lake-Link anglers!!!  Spent a couple days fishing a local pond at the end of my street.  I've always known it was a good place to shore fish but I'm always looking for something else to kayak fish.  Anyhow, I went out and caught a lot of fish.  I was using a Keitech Swing Impact Fat 4.8 Bluegill swim bait, a Strike King buzz bait in Chartreuse/White, and a Black/Blue Twin Tail grub from Chompers on a 1/4 oz. weedless jig head.  One LMB that was 18" choked on my swim bait.  I took it out and it gushed out blood until it went belly up.  I tried 2 rounds of CPR and even used the paddles to defibrillate it...but to no avail.  Soooo unfortunate to have happen!  Hate to see any quality fish die considering the size pond it is.  Above it all, and most surprisingly, I caught a 34" Northern Pike.  I knew there was Pike in the retention pond because I've been bit off clean several times but I never expected them to get this big.  Anyhow, here are a few pics.  Two 18" LMBs and the toothy critter.  Take care and God bless!!!  <><

Local Pond in Lake in the Hills-I went out yesterday morning to a nearby pond that I had never considered fishing. I was given an "insider's tip" by a friend and so I decided to take a test drive. The bonus....it's less than 5 minutes from my house. LOL I went out for 3 hours (6-9) and I caught 4. Nothing big, but still fun. I probably missed 6 to 8 on account of short strikes. It took me a while to figure out what they wanted. I threw a black floating ribbit frog, a white spinnerbait with a yellow grub trailer, a white chatterbait with a pumpkin craw trailer and finally a 1/4oz. jig with a black and blue chomper's trailer. The jig did the trick!!! I wish I could've landed all of them. An exciting way to start the Mother's Day weekend nevertheless. Here are the pics of the first and last bass (16" and 16.5").
