you mean the WI bowhunting world isn't on fire about the 220" buck shot in Vernon County Saturday? My wife sent to me from facebook and I just laughed.
Saw one nice shooter doe with two fawns at about 7:30 Saturday AM at about 30 yards out. She gave me a nice broadside shot but I passed. Our rules for early season are 6 point and bigger and only lone does. She would've been a shooter for sure. Bumped two small bucks headed out of the woods for lunch. Saw nothing Saturday night. Sunday some Forkers and yearlings. Good excitement early in the season. Looking forward to my Thursday/Friday hunts with less pressure in the woods.
All very nice deer and congrats to all who have punched a tag!! Does are welcome also- I am hoping this thread is more of a story telling thread about any success no matter the animal!! If there's any smart arse comments about forks and spikes them horn porn guys can start a mature buck thread!! Let's see some does or turkeys forks or spikes whatever makes a successful hunt for YOU the hunter!! I really enjoy hearing the stories like - I had this buck patterned since august type stuff!! Anything that will help the hunter possibly learn something from each other's stories!! Best of luck to all still waiting on punching a tag!! Casey
My 14 year old son shot his 1st bow buck on Saturday night. Nice 9 point. 25 minutes into our sit. Perfect shot. I was close enough to hear the shot and see him run away. 75 yard blood trail. Pretty darn good week. My 17 year old daughter shot a bear the Sunday before! And on Friday I started down a new career path!
Nephew shot a doe on my land sunday morn, came in all alone. She went like maybe 50 yards and piled up. He almost got on saturday morn but she was using her fawn as a shield.
Saw a few smaller bucks but it was pretty humid and hot out, they have been hitting the acorns pretty heavy.
Sat in the heat Saturday night. Had a 6 point in velvet at 10 yards. Considered shooting my first velvet buck but some branches between us so passed-with rain coming did not want to track and lose him. Sunday-two does at 8am eating at the edge of the corn field. Fun hunts-looking forward to cooler weather sometime.
Congrats to all that let arrows fly.
Nice!! I stuck a 15" 8 of my own last night too! He's got a crab claw and a little sticker on his left main beam, but neither are long enough to count as actual points. Had this buck patterned right on queue since early August!! Double lunged him, went 55 yards and piled up! Public land, Taylor Co. Have a great season folks!
