Does anybody know if CJ Smith's is still open? I'm mainly interested to know if he is renting that house of his. Last fall I was told he was not. Thanks.

The Northwood floated around Lake Marie yesterday afternoon enjoying the sunshine.  Water levels are a little high, with some debris on the water.  We landed 9 different species of fish during our outing.  Yellow bass, white bass, catfish, walleyes, blue gils, sheep, LMB, smallmouth bass, and one muskie.  Many fish caught and we tried many different water depths:  3 fow to 25 fow.  We used 3" paddle tails with multi-colored jig heads (got the walleyes on these); 1/16 oz mini mites, pink and chartreuse; Gold and blue Thinfishers (stripers nailed these) and 1/32 oz yellow and green mini mites with a waxie for the gills.  With no wind it was a stale farm pond for the first few hours, then the wind picked up and the action was much better.  We drifted most of the day.  Hi to Ray W.  See  you on the water.  IC

Fished 5/16 from 11-5 with Chris Taurisano of T-Bone Guide Service. What an excellent experience! Despite tough fishing conditions - bluebird skies, high and rising water conditions and the entire Chain being No-Wake, we caught walleye, including 1 22" slot fish, a handful of drum and a bonus catfish. Chris went out of his way to make the entire outing positive. Top quality boat, high quality gear, everything exactly as advertised. From trolling to jigging, Chris eagerly explained not only "what" technique we were going to use, but also "why". The Chain is not your "classic" walleye fishery, and I came away from the trip with a much better understanding of the Chain and its' walleye. For someone seeking a fun, educational and productive fishing experience, I can highly recommend Chris Chris Taurisano and T-Bone Guide Service.

the best answer you can get is to contact the Fox Lake waterways dept in Fox Lake.  You know, they are the people who do your boat permits there.

My partner Matt has been on a great local bass bite and typically stays on the bass all season. For those interested in bass fishing or getting into tournament fishing Matt is one of the best bass fisherman I have encountered.

Walleye fishing has really picked up in the past week or so. Jig and crawler has been very good for us mixed in with some trolling small cranks like #5 flicker shads or Vexan Wasps. Between myself and my partners Lincoln and Andy, we have been on a good pattern for numbers and size. The next month or so should be good if we can keep consistent weather patterns. Muskies have been eating too and are pretty much done with spawn.

Was out for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon.  We jigged and trolled with very little to show.  One legal eye and one short.  We did catch a few crappies over 13" trolling shad raps.  Very slow but a nice afternoon to be out.  We jigged from 3'-15' and trolled the same depths.  All fish were released.  Did not see much of anything caught.  To all the bow fisherman/fisherwomen go out and get those carp.  They were all over in very big pods on the north lakes.

Is it legal for lake front property owners to use weed killer in the lake? seems like a lot of dead fish in the shallows and lots of green pea soup colored waters..
