The Northwood hit the water on Saturday morning.  Fishing was slow but the ones we caught we nice sized.  Walleye, sheep, a large cat and some stripers.  Walleyes on the pink 1/16 oz mini mite tipped with a minnow.  The cat was on a worm and the stripers were on the all new Thinfisher blade with the red eye in deep water.  Fished from 3' to 25'.  The wind picked up after a few hours and blew us off the lake.  Lots of traffic out there.  IC

Fished Marie from 11:30 - 5:30. Found a few walleye shallow on the wind blown shore using small crankbaits. 2 keepers and 2 shorts. Lost a nice Muskie at the boat. Headed to a channel and caught several crappie on a jig and gulp alive minnows. Nothing huge but a lot of eaters. Tried a few other spots with no takers. A lot of boats out today.

Fished on the Chain yesterday for about 5 hours or so.  Very slow for us.  We fished from 25' to 3' and jigged crawlers and minnows.  We only caught two eyes 14.5 and 10" along with two whites and a yellow bass.  We also threw out slips for eyes and didnt get anything on them.  Had a few mystery fish on but they seemed to carp due to the scales that were the size of half dollars.  Very slow out there for us didnt see other boats catch much.

Where's a some good spots for crappie on the chain for those that don't have a boat? I'm in the Schaumburg area and mostly go to Shabbona , and was wanting to try something different....

Cypress resort and marine on pettite lake is a great bet. Boat launch and dock space with nice little cabins!

Was trying for panfish. Mainly crappie, but no luck. I was out for 4 hours on Pistakee. It was my first time fishing the chain of lakes, I’ll definitely be back as I spotted a lot of structured areas I would love to fish in May.

The lone fish that I caught yesterday was this carp. I spent time casting some spinner baits and Rapalas. I also had minnows and crawlers under a slip bobber  caught this carp on a crawler. Looks like it suffered an injury, maybe a propeller hit it!?

I was in there after ice fishing one day during the winter and there were at least 3 monster crappies in the tank. He said all came from the chain. I've been to Kentucky lake a few times and haven't caught anything close to those. I did see one almost 4 lbs though. Thought it was a bass. Guy was taking a pic as I was coming in off the lake.

HUGE!

I saw something at Jim's bait & Tackle yesterday that was amazing.

A verified tape measured 3 lb. +, 18 in. Crappie.  The fish was caught on the Chain.  Proof positive that they are in there !!.  Over the last several years I have noticed a higher frequency of 13 to 14 in fish.  The Crappie was in one of the bait holding tanks and was very alive.

Congrats to whoever caught this fish.

Captn Patrick.
