Muskie08, got a broken Lommis $250 rod from a couple of weeks ago when one of the wake boats came within yards of me and the mile high wake thru me to the floor on top of my rods and near swamped me. First time I used the bilge pump on the new, this spring, boat. Glad to see it worked. I'll have to stop by the waterway agency and regester a complaint in person. Their music blarring is just as bad. The agency is behind the Fox Lake McDonalds on  rte 12 and can be accessed from the water also if anybody wants to add their two cents.

MOON PHASE (88%)
Waxing Gibbous

Just got back from our annual Musky Boot Camp on LOTW. I spend just over 2 weeks every year up there teaching anglers how to become better Musky anglers with my long time friend and fellow guide Sean Bermingham. We had an amazing turnout again and the fishing was very good. The anglers in the week long school had 97 muskies in the boat! For the 2 weeks of fishing up there i had 65 muskies in the boat. What an amazing fishery. Thought you guys might like a few pics. Thanks to all our sponsors and Flag island resort for making this happen again! Musky Tales in Antioch really helped out big this year along with Chaos Tackle, Lake X, Stealth leaders, Cabelas, Mammoth lures, Lunker bucktails, Skipper Buds, and many more.

I called the waterway agency to complain about the wake boats on the lower river (try dealing with their waves on a river that's only 100-150ft wide) They said they have received a lot of complaints and are working on a law to ban them from using the wake enhancing devices. (at least on the river). They said they have been working on it for a few months now. they said they are damaging the shoreline, docks, docked boats and creating dangerous conditions.

Found a really nice night to be out Saturday so we floated Lake Catherine from 3 until after dark. Water temps are very warm, 83 on the surface, so we elected to not go after Muskies, and chased Largemouth instead. Perfect cool breeze for a nice drift, we ended up with 5 nice Bass working the deeper weed edges with a drop shot/purple wacky worm. All fish were between 12 and 16ft. Several smaller ones hit also, but didn't hook up. Nice night to be out for sure.

I'm also wondering if there is a garbage music CD available out there for the idiot wakeboarders to play on their speaker systems designed just for them?  Seems like I hear the same mindless nonsense blasting on all of the ski boats out there.

Not impressed.

we pay enogh fees the county sheriff or dnr should have a bigger presence on the water!

I guess it will take a death before they crack down on the A holes that think they can do what ever they want and dont care about anyone else.

MOON PHASE (29%)
Waning Crescent

Slow weekend. Best was this 24 1/2 incher trolling the crankbait. Almost got swamped by one of those wake boats coming 20 feet away. Should be outlawed. Doing a lot of damage to docks, moored boats and eroding the shoreline in the southern impoundments.

The Northwood took a ride on Marie late yesterday and found a mixed bag of fish.  Gills, stripers and sheep were in the area using the thinfisher blades and 1/16oz mini-mites.  Fished the entire water column with most action in the 8-10 fow range while drifting.  Gills were hitting the thinfishers in 8 fow.  Marked plenty of fish, but not sure where the walleyes were hiding.  Tight lines !  IC

I was out very early on Saturday 7-28, perfect temps. Nice breeze for a good drift, was out muskie jigging in 25-30 ft. on Catherine. No muskies hit the net, moved to Marie. Picked up a slim 37 incher. Nice release.  Not too busy until about 1:00, then the idiots came out. So I found a back channel to cast the pads and picked up 3 nice largemouth on a rubber frog. Then I went Steitz's and drank.

Hacker Pschoor was ice cold and the steak sandwich was perfect.

Great day to be out over all.
