Partly Sunny

A real pleasure fishing the chain with no wake in force. Water was 71 dingy and quite a bit of floating debris. They say they may remove the restriction Sunday but water is still very high with large numbers of docks still under water or barely above it. Fishing was OK but heat was a factor after 2-3 hrs. Headed home for a brewskie

Late Report 5/23:

High water and no wake spells great Walleye fishing this year.  Current areas are holding fish.  Good sailing for subtle jig fisherman and Blade fisherman alike. You know who you are.

The added fun has been the Flathead bite.  Landed an 18Lb and a 10 lb. the last 2 trips out.  You want a fight, hook into one of these. Both hit Blades.

As discussed the Crappie have left the channels.  Bluegills are holding in the backs of channels and are on the spawn.

On Blades Purple has been the ticket, A respectable showing for Black Shad and Gold as well.

5/23 was Steller.Chet and myself ended up with 14 only two were short.  Size was 14.25 to 16.5 none in release slot or over 24.  Took home 3 each. The 10 lb Flathead was also caught on this trip.

Bonus has been the Largemouth Bass (still in the Channels)

If you lioke to go Catching this is the year and the time.

Good Luck and Good Fishing.

Captn. Patrick

Anyone fishing in the channels on the northern Chain lakes? I understand there is no wake...... With water being high, i can see the crappie still being in the channels.

Anyone?

Hey Wilsonburger,

If John over at CJ Smith's doesn't rent that house next store to the bait store there is a resort over on Petite Lake.

I usually fish the northern lakes - Marie, Channel, Catherine. With the high water levels, my normal launch is under water. Where are good recommended launch sites? Thanks

Out for about 6 hours yesterday.  Slow day for the most part.  Trolled the north lakes with a few small white bass to show.  Jigged for a while with crawlers and caught about 8 eyes that were all hovering above and below the 14" mark.  All fished were released.  Most fish came from  5-8' of water.  Lots of boats out trolling for the musky tournament.  No wind didnt help out.  Beats working......even with a fishing partner like I have!!
