Somebody was wrong a few posts back.  I caught several crappies in channels yesterday.  Ended up keeping 15 for supper.  Only down side was I had a tough time catching any good sized bluegills.  I did catch a bunch of them but mostly dinks.  Nail tail with a waxworm.

A late report. My buddy Steve and I fished for a few hours Sunday morning. Many folks were catching walleye. We managed a few keepers. My buddy Steve's fish was larger but he needs to learn how to hold it out lol! On jig and crawler. We also got a few crappie trolling shad raps in 6 FOW.  As well as a nice cat and a few bass. A fun morning.

Likewise,  caught a 17” Walleye and an 18” Chanel Cat this morning.  Both on the slicker firetiger color 3” flicker shad Jim’s Bait & Tackle recomended just last week.  Fileted them both and cooked up with this recipe.   My brother up from IN said it’s was the best fish he’s had in very long tome.   Both were mighty tasty??

Got out today from about 7:30-12:30 searching for gills.  Found fish in less than 2 fow.  Waxies 8-10” under a float did the trick.  Moved a few times whenever the bite would slow up, but had action all day.

Update:  Never tried Flathead Catfish as table fare.  Kept the 10 lb. fish from previous report based on articles I have read on-line.  Just fried him up and had him for breakfast.  By far the best tasting catfish I have ever eaten.  We are saving some to bake and have with lemon and drawn butter as suggested by many on-line articles.  Can't wait to try.  Needless to say I wont be releasing the smaller ones any more.  Still have a soft spot for the big ones.  Will still keep the big guys and gals swimming.

Good Fishing

A real pleasure fishing the chain with no wake in force. Water was 71 dingy and quite a bit of floating debris. They say they may remove the restriction Sunday but water is still very high with large numbers of docks still under water or barely above it. Fishing was OK but heat was a factor after 2-3 hrs. Headed home for a brewskie

Late Report 5/23:

High water and no wake spells great Walleye fishing this year.  Current areas are holding fish.  Good sailing for subtle jig fisherman and Blade fisherman alike. You know who you are.

The added fun has been the Flathead bite.  Landed an 18Lb and a 10 lb. the last 2 trips out.  You want a fight, hook into one of these. Both hit Blades.

As discussed the Crappie have left the channels.  Bluegills are holding in the backs of channels and are on the spawn.

On Blades Purple has been the ticket, A respectable showing for Black Shad and Gold as well.

5/23 was Steller.Chet and myself ended up with 14 only two were short.  Size was 14.25 to 16.5 none in release slot or over 24.  Took home 3 each. The 10 lb Flathead was also caught on this trip.

Bonus has been the Largemouth Bass (still in the Channels)

If you lioke to go Catching this is the year and the time.

Good Luck and Good Fishing.
