Early spring on the chain means very good panfishing. It's one of my favorite things to do this time of year. Lots of action on most days and very good table fare. The chain is some of the best panfishing in 100 mile radius as 100-200 fish days can be common with good weather conditions. Plastics have been working best for us. Crappies, bluegills, yellow bass, white bass and perch along with a few largemouth bass have been plentiful. Some days we see a handful of crappies in the 13-15" range. I release all big females back into the system to ensure good genetics and good spawn for years to come. This cold front will hurt the bite but the water levels are coming up again and with some stability, we will have a great bite again

Got out for a few hours today...cold & windy...fish were tight-lipped...had to work for them. Ended w 26 keepers of mixed bag of crappies, whites & perch. Hooked 2 nice largies...released.

Had to tip my plastic jig w a waxie to get them to eat my bait. They were very close to shore & around rocks...none by docks this time. No pics as I just finished cleaning them & forgot...oh well...

Not as easy as it was a few days ago but still very nice to be on the water. Shad is still everywhere...some dead, some in the process of dying & some decomposing already. Cycle of life.

Too cold but still better than work or TV.

Need a few days of sun & warmer weather to get them going again...not this week for sure.

Get out & enjoy God’s creation!

Yep, April 1st. But hope for some rain as they will not risk dry docking the people south of the locks by closing them that much.
