went over to channel today north end to just ride and see if their were any high weeds now with the snow gone ice is a little cloudy so that didn,t work as well as hoped,, fished two locations nothing one of those locs was smoking hot just a few days ago worked those holes maybe 10 to 15 minutes, we lost ever bit of 6 to 8 inchs of ice in those locations we still had between 8 to 10 inchs so maybe I well go back to my electric and take the gas off the quad for a few days....I also saw a school of shad on the east shore of the far north bay it streched from one end to the other all most it was 5 feet to 10 wide the shade were 2 lbs to 4 inchers never seen them that big that thick before..........road over fish for 3 or four minutes ice is slick creepers are a must tight lines
channel is tough this year it well get better as the winter sets in been fishing it for over 40 years this is a normal winter 30 years ago fish are where they used to be this time of year way back when.....but they are not hitting like they used too

was out all over the lake yesterday caught fish in most places I fished ,hit catherine today fishing was slow get 1 maybe 2 fish out of a hole if any and was fishing where they were fish last week, was wishing I had gone to channel, talked to one fellow who said it was worse over there today than catherine it is fishing not catching,, as for the ice I reported a foot but but don't think I cut less than that any where cut as much as twice that in other places , 3 inches of water on the ice all ready and we have another 24 hours of above freezing will not be fishing here tomorrow foot is wet from today,, yesterday on catherine saw a lot of people not catching fish the bite was very light they were not even moving springs more than a 1/64th REMEMBER ICE IS NEVER SAFE even a foot can have thin spots somewhere
Eskimo44, you can park at Chopper's Bar for $5. They will give you a receipt/ticket to place on your dashboard. After fishing, they will credit your $5 if you purchase food, or beverages. Good chili there and it hits the spot after being on the ice.
