MOON PHASE (35%)
Waxing Crescent

CONDITIONS
Snowing

ICE DEPTH
3 inches

AIR TEMP
31° - 35° F

Prior to the snow, accessed the lake by Choppers with a buddy. We spudded the entire way and could not get to where we wanted due to thinner ice. Like in December, the southwest bay froze in two different stages; however, last week's strong northeast winds negatively impacted ice creation in deeper water. We wanted to get to water at or deeper than 5 to 6 feet and could not as that ice was at or less than 2" (estimated). In the area we fished, which was 3 to 4 feet of water, the ice was 3.5 to 3.75" (measured, not estimated). With the snow, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to see the 2 different ice stages. Fishing was extremely slow, so we left after a couple of hours. Be safe, partner up, wear picks, bring a rope/throwable, spud, etc. Going to wait a few days before I return.

I believe the waterways set the cribs years ago. I got a copy of there gps locations years ago when I went in to renew my sticker fee.

Last spring, a fishing guide mentioned he thought the DNR had a cribs map. I looked on website etc, could never find one. I did not call the DNR however, maybe they could help?

Stop by a bait shop,Fishing Hot Spots paper maps have been updated. There are 2,one for north, one for south. T-Bone Guide Service updated maps, make sure you check if it is current. Look if cribs are shown. With old map,I could not find any cribs shown. Maybe they have collapsed.

Anybody know where I can find information on the location of various fish cribs on the Chain lakes? I know they exist, I've found two. Any info will be kept confidential. PM me if desired. Thanks
