Very well stated ILLINOISDUCKMAN! If I may add  - respect the resources on public land as well.  I no longer own a section of a creek in Lee County. When I did I was constantly cleaning up after PSEUDO sportsmen. I fished and hunted public all my life as well. It always amazes me how people who enjoy the outdoors treat it with such disrespect.  TIGHT LINES

Went out today an hour. Very steady bite. Mixed bag of gills and crappie. Nothing huge. Gills were tough and fought hard. Pink jig white body.

ILDuckman,
Ever since I was a kid, I had thought about sneaking in there in the winter time to ice fish that big hole. I have never done it. You are extremely lucky to have that piece of property! I am very jealous. I always wondered if someone went back there and ice fished in the winter. Again I’m very jealous! Good for you brother.

Was out yesterday for 25 minutes. Just the ultra light for some gills and sunnies. Bite was aggressive, but all small guys. Bass are preoccupied with the spawn. Didn’t even get a tiny one on the jig. Still got like 30 gills in 25 minutes. It was fun.

I too, have noticed an abundance of garbage at this place. I also noticed that along the path it looked like someone actually took a dump. This must be what you’re talking about. It was definitely not dog poop. I Thu notice worm containers, cans, plastic bags, it’s obnoxious. People really should have a little more pride in themselves. Every time that I have been out to Dufield this year, I have picked up at least two items and toss them that weren’t mine. I wanted to post about this before but I was trying to keep it about fishing. Since someone else has noticed, I’ll chime in as well. I always have a beard and my right arm is tatted from top to bottom. I’m usually with one of my daughters, and my toenails are always painted. I drive the white Wagoneer. This pretty much let everyone know exactly who I am. I always say hello to everyone. I always do my part in keeping that place up. It’s important and a blessing for us to have these places. Do your part. Tight Linez anyone.

PS
If I catch a grown man pooping on the trail or in the weeds, you will definitely get poop all over you!! There is a porto john. Use it.

Please if you haul it in ...take it with you out. I am tired of cleaning up for people who don't understand that Dufield Pond has sections that are mentioned on this forum that is privately owned. Styrofoam night crawler containers, red bull cans, soda cans, tangled fishing line nests to name a few...I really liked the guy who dropped his shorts and took dump while I was working in my garden.

This is the Eastern side if Dufield Pond near the deeper water... I fish Dufield Pond during Ice season when the MCCD closes that park entrances...I put my boat and Kyacks down by the pier I have....somebody moved my Kyack 30 yards from my pier towards the North parking lot entrance.

Have fun!! Fish your brains out!!

Respect private property

The bass are definitely bedding up. I was able to pull a couple nice ones out off the shallows. Soft plastic. Very slow retrieve. More or less watching the loop in my line to straight. Gills are very shallow and aggressive. Good day. Cant complain. Was out about 40 minutes. Weeds getting thick here boys and girls!! Tight Linez!!

Weed Beds
I have posted two other fishing reports on this little pond over the years. Neither of them show up. I thought I’d put a new one out today. Great little spot to take the kiddos. It’s also not a bad spot if you’re just trying to get the itch off real quick. I grew up in Woodstock. I know this little body of water very very well. If you can find a way to fish the deeper part of the lake, that would be the backside that you can’t see you when you pull in, get in there somehow. I’ve got a lot of stories. But over the years it has gotten very tough to walk back there. It’s super soft. It’s hard to cast into the deeper water. When you pull in and park, the first little spot with the bench is a great spot for bluegill. It’s also a good spot along the weed line for small bass. The largest bass I’ve ever seen come out of there. It was 3 lbs. 4 oz. Not bad for a little pond. If you walk down the path to the left a bit, there is a bend in there. It’s deeper. Every single time I go to this place and run a small bait through there. I will catch at least one crappie. This place really seems to like white. I use white bodies with pink heads. I use white bodies with black heads. It’s always a crusher. The bass seem to like small soft baits. You will catch them with cranks. But they like small soft baits here. Ned rig, plastic worms, etc. I usually take my daughter here so she can catch crappie. Great place for a pan fish bite. They should make this place catch and release! It’s not very big. I’m begging you not to go there and take your limit! Tight linez everyone.

Photos all from this week. We went 4 days. 25 crappie. 6 gills. 3 cats. 2 carp. No bass. All released.
