Had a late start but wanted to explore a few areas from shore that I've wanting to try for awhile. Stopped at the spill way first. Water is low so nothing coming over the spill way. Decided to make a few cast anyway and picked fish in first pic. 4.28lbs. Stayed 10 more minutes and moved on to next spot. Within 5 minutes at new spot caught fish in second pic. 6.63lbs. Stayed about another hour without even a bump. Moved to a few other spots and picked 3 super dinks. Not a lot of bites but I'll take the quality.

Stopped at the spillway to wet a line. I was disgusted by all the trash laying around! WTF! Why are people such slobs! Is it so hard to drop your trash in the can that sit empty 20ft away!
Other than it looking like a 3rd world river bank, fishing was slow. Landed a couple small white bass.

Looking to go somewhere over the course of the weekend. Clinton Lake is a short drive from my house (less than 2 hours) but want to take my oldest after some bigger fish.
Are there any options shore fishing for walleye or striped bass at Clinton before I head out? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Late report from yesterday. Was down in Normal visiting daughter at school. My daughter wanted to go fishing with me like she used to. Went to the route 48 bridge area. Started off on the east side for about 30 minutes. No good. Hopped over the road to the wind blown side. Fished there 2:30-5:30pm. Daughter had a blast. She caught 14 bluegill(all about 7") one 10" crappie. She used mini mite with waxies, or just a minnow under bobber. I was throwing a 1/4 oz blade bait. Caught a 20" walleye and 2 white bass. I hooked into a number of white bass but kept loosing them. Also caught 5 LG mouth bass but all under 12". Great day to be out with my daughter AND we caught dinner!

Still very good! Out today 11-3. Very windy, but Clinton is good under these conditions. Bought some minnows with the intention of targetting crappie but started throwing crankbaits and never stopped.
Largemouth: good. Caught 6 near the hot arm. Still active and fighting hard!
Crappie: good. Continuing to get better every week. Caught several on crankbait near wood.
White bass: excellent. Best bet on the lake and a heck of a fight. Had the Mrs. out with me today. Lucky to convince her a few times a year and she kicked my butt today. Over 100 with 6 over 12 inches. I'm a happy man when the wind blows on the shore!

Out today 7-3. was COLD this morning. Great to see lots of boats out at the marina. Here is my report from the marina up to the 54 bridge. Cold end likely has a different report.
Bass: tough. Caught 5. Never really got a pattern going. Some deep and some shallow. A few of the bites were very aggressive on a crankbait this morning near the marina. By the end of the day it still did not seem as though the fish moved up shallow with the sunshine. Sunday could be a completely different story with more sun and wind predicted.
Crappie: did not target them but watched others and talked. Tough day like the bass, but overall they are still good and holding close to shoreline wood. Jigs and minnows seem to be producing equally well. Stop by Joes baitshop for a better idea. Plus, he's a really great guy.
White bass: excellent. Targeted them around noon after the disappointment with the bass bite. Had to move around a little before I found them. When I did the action was non-stop. Well over 100 fish. Mostly small but about a dozen over 12 inches. Many in the same areas crappie are holding. If you look close you will see small shad surfacing. My guess is that the white bass and crappie are utilizing them. Small shad colored crankbaits worked the best. Peak bite was 1pm.
Walleye: did not hear anyone targeting them but I did catch 3 decent sized fish among the white bass on cranks.
Catfish: no info
