Went out fishing on Saturday from 8am - 11:30am at Montrose Harbor. I personally was shut out and I didn't see many fish taken....one to be exact. It was taken out near the point (maybe 50 yards short) and it was on a powerline. There was no squeezing in out there as the powerlines take up a ton of room and they are all side by side.

It was pretty busy with a ton of powerliners and it was tough to find a spot from the red/white lighthouse out to the point.

I was able to get a spot right by the lighthouse. I was fishing a slip bobber set up as well as a 3/4 oz. spoon.

Neither option provided any action other than frozen line on my casting option due to the cold weather.

I then decided I try a spot where no one else was so I moved over inside the lighthouses. Not sure it was the right call but no one else around me was catching fish either so why not. There is tried a slip bobber, since no one was around I let it ride down the channel a long ways in the current. No fish.

I also tried several spoons ranging it weights as well as color variations. Last, I tried a 1/4 oz jig with minnow head and white twist tail and nothing on that either.

Has anyone been fishing the harbors for coho yet this year?

Any luck?

It has been a cold weather but I was thinking the run should be starting up if it hasn't already. I saw some reports for Waukegan but nothing major.

Any info would help!

Thanks.

I was at Montrose from 3-6pm 3/23 and saw a bunch of guys catch either browns or cohos. Some on power lines and some using cranks. Water seemed to have cleared up a little.
