Chef Randy, you need to reduce your line size - by 2/3!!!! Max, 10lb test, for both, main line AND floro leader. Also, understand this, the Cook County Forest Preserve lakes see possibly the MOST fishing pressure per yard of shoreline than any other lake in the nation. Accept and understand this and you can succeed. Go small, go light, go early. Weekdays are a good thing too. Less pressure per day.

I did not receive any help or comments regarding the previous post, but I went out again. Tried a little spoon for bass and didn't have any luck. Moved on the the far back pool where I had seen a ton of carp I think. I tried to fish for them with sweet potato fries. No luck. I've been out on this lake for about 40 hours this year, and I'll I've caught is a blue gill. I am thinking my line is too thick at 25 pound green braid with a 25 pound fluoro liter line. Help?

The north pool has been very weedy. I have been out 4 times in the past two weeks. Once in the am, and 3 times around sunset. I haven't even gotten a bite. I moved to the wildlife preserve area on the other side of the Higgins street bridge. Fish were jumping everywhere. I have no idea what they were. I have been trying to catch bass in the weedy areas with a seedless worm and a frog. I have had no success. I tried to fish the active area today with the same stuff and it didn't work. I am from Florida, and this is the first year I am fishing fresh water. I have no idea how to catch these fish. I would appreciate all help and tips about this lake. even thoughts on what kind of fish were jumping and tearing up the mucky shallows in the preserve, and if they are catchable. I caught a couple blue gill on a small spoon. I am fishing from a kayak with a nice light set up. Saint crox triumph x rod, Stradic 2500 reel, using 20 lb braided high end line (green) and a 25 pound fluorocarbon liter line. Please help me catch fish.

6-8pm. Parked where the Main and North pool meet, walked through the brush on the North end of the Main pool just past the first point. 3 LMB, all at the first point casting towards weeds on the surface, one of them weighing in at 4.11 lb. No pic, left my phone in the car Angry

All on light-green Yamamoto 7" senko, Texas rigged, weightless, on a 3/0 wide gap.

Nothing from the North pool.
