Its past time to eliminate deer and elk farms in Wisconsin and nationwide. Whatever will the so called "hunters" do instead of purchasing  that ridiculously huge rack? Why they might have to go hunting actual free range fair chase animals. The horror.

Interesting read on the deer population decline in Converse County Wyo. I have three great mule deer on my wall from Converse County taken 15-18 years ago. In recent years during a couple elk hunts the decline in deer numbers (and quality) is very noticeable.

CWD naysayers in Wisconsin take note...

Thanks for the link. Great info no-luck!  This is significant progress.

I agree with Wicasa that mandatory testing would be ideal but is likely a pipe dream.

Thanks no-luck.  Interesting stuff.  I’d like to see WI’s entire captive herd tested, but I know I’m dreaming

Deer hunting has evolved into something I no longer wish to participate in. All deer hunting is deer farming anymore. Most hunters have more money invested in plows, sprayers, cultivaters, planters and some super duper seed than they do hunting equipment. Not only that, those same people tell you baiting is bad and what they do is nothing short of heroic. They tell you after six years of protecting does on public land that there still aren't any there. They can no longer blame over harvest so now it's wolves. Yet the private land bordering the public land has an overabundance of deer. We all know wolves honor no trespassing signs. Public land hunters are starting to learn who the wolves are. Deer farms aren't the problem that should be addressed.

From my understanding, the current test in use is considered the gold standard  test.

Good question Madforlabs, I will follow up on that.

Pike eyes....actually you're the one spreading misinformation. Testing is done on lymph tissue (gland) and not brain material.

I get the differentiation BTF and Wicasa. Makes sense... Have prions been detected in deer testing negative via conventional methods and if so, do you know what sort of additional testing is done to make this determination?
