Hello everyone, I am just a kid who is new into duck hunting and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about hunting for the southern zone opener. I acquired permission from a water front property owner on Lake Winnebago to hunt, but the property does not meet certain regulation requirements. After looking through the regulations I stumbled upon the idea of hunting off shore by standing in the water. Often times during the northern zone opener it seemed that the ducks would only come in when I waded out into the lake without my shotgun to moves decoys. From what I have read this seems legal, however hunting this way prevents me from having a blind because I will not be 1,000 feet off shore. My question to you is: "Have you ever tried or heard of anyone trying to hunt by standing in the water next to/in their decoy spread without any cover? If so, how successful was it and where is the best place to stand in relationship to your decoys?" Thank you in advance for all your help!
