Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the duck next to the hen buffle is. Basically no color on it besides the white around the head area. Thanks in advance.

This ones got me totally stumped. He showed up in a local harbor I've been at quite a bit lately, and I have zero idea what it could possibly be. It is slightly smaller than a mallard.

Tsquare86-

I believe that is just a mutt mallard. Farm/park duck mix of some sort. If it was from somewhere outside of WI where a mutt mallard would be unlikely, I might think it was genetic or a far removed hybrid of some sort. But figuring it was shot in SE WI I have to think its nothing unusual.

Rather than start a new thread....

Is this a Mallard X ?

Mallard Genetic Anomaly ?

Key features: no white ring around the neck, lots of brown on the belly, no distinct black/white tail, correct drake mallard wings.

I'm fully prepared to get shunned for this. What the heck is it? I thought hen mallard, but its way smaller than mallard and has a gray beak and feet. Thanks for any help.
