Renting a cabin with my wife this weekend in Shipwreck Bay. Looking for help deciding what to do-fish or hunt with limited time on my hands. Dog has to stay home and may not want to trailer the grass blind boat. Can take the kayak. Could even layout hunt from it weather permitting-grey and black camo. Thoughts?

Hunted Sat and Sun am north of the railroad bridge; my first time. Never fired a shot but had a great time and saw some ducks, geese cranes and swans. I need to check it out next year a lot more and earlier. Big Smile

Anyone doing any good duck hunting north of the railroad bridge? I hear some shooting that direction and am thinking of giving it a try this weekend since it's my last chance. Thanks for any help you care to provide. Big Smile

So, late late report for what it's worth. Brought the boat and hunted north of the Buckthorn bridge that wknd. Set up in the marsh grass off an island that did not have a permanent blind.

Locals decided that they had to hunt their blind 150 yards away(I could not see it), even though I was quite obviously there long before they came in. They set up 15 minutes to shooting and chased the birds that were looking at my spread away.

Few birds flying that day, took home a buffy.

Haven't been that way since before I got into waterfowl, but I hunt completely from a yak or waders, I would head to the state park across the lake or the little yellow pretty much anywhere upstream of the lake as a starting point if I were up there. Would NOT recommend traveling main lake in a yak, big water can get rough quick. GL, let me know how you do.
