According to Precision Trolling you let out 50 feet of line add a snap weight and then another 50 feet of line to the planer board. How many feet of line do you guys put out for crawler harnesses and what speed do you guys go?

a good way to start..... use - 1 oz inline weight double depth. Ie 13 fow. U run it 26 feet back. 20fow run it 40 feet back. 31fow 62 feet back.

The 50/50 method has nothing to do with 50 feet. Lol. Too much whiskey?

I agree, I also do not use that 50/50 method. I will run snaps or inline depending on the conditions, but mostly I will use 1oz so it's a fairly easy method to figure out. At 1mph it's a 2 to 1 ratio, so let out 20ft of line, harness is down roughly 10ft. Now there might be some variables to consider, but this should get you in the ball park.

That is the 50/50 method. Of the guys I fish with, no one uses that method. I use inline weights, and determine the angle of the line, and feet out to determine the depth of the bait.
