Are Lake trout in PA?

I live in lower PA and am looking to catch a lake trout this winter via ice fishing. Is this a good idea? Should I wait until fall? I've heard they are in Lake Erie. Does a novice ice fisherman stand a chance on Lake Erie? Are there any lakes other than Lake Erie that hold lake trout?
