I looked it over this morning. I'm not sure where you would be able to do a backcast on the parts of the stream I've seen. But I'm not a fly fisherman either. The water was clear and not very high this morning, even with all the rain, so I think the surrounding wetlands absorbed the rain well. I'm guessing everything would be very soft on the shorelines.
I fished downstream from Wildlife and caught 6 creek chubs. The biggest was about 7 inches and at that point I really thought I might have my first Allenton Creek trout.
At least I caught something though. 26 years ago I fished it and said "never again".
But, I gave it a try. Very shallow water. Some wood based cover and that is where the chubs were. I kind of thought that's where the trout would be but who knows....
So, there is you Allenton Creek report for 2015.
Other than the Onion, what's the next closest trout water suitable for fly fishing?
