Hi! I am taking my two daughter's in law out fishing this Sunday and they have not fished before. I am hoping to catch some nice sized Pan Fish - any suggestions? We are looking at Lake Nemahbin. What is the best bait to catch Crappie/Gill? What depth are they at this time of year?

I caught just about the largest sunfish of my life, not one but many, fishing deep mid Summer. I start with 4 or 6 lb test line, then fish within 6" of the bottom in about 22' of water. I try to get structure or a weed line. You can check with a local bait shop, they may give you some ideas.

I have mostly used crawler pieces, other baits will work. I use an appropriate size hook and hide the tip. Setting up with a slip bobber is a good option.
