Tough to beat a plain white 2" Twister Tail on a 16th oz unpainted jig on the stained lake where I mainly fish for crappies.

Berkeley power bait honey worms in red on a size 8 Aberdeen drop shotting in 10-12 fow for gills. Last year for about 2 weeks in early July, you couldn't pry them off my rods.  Out-fished everything, including red worms. Gulp 1" minnow was a close second. Picking up another jar before spring. These are a must have.

Having said that, I always bring red worms, because gills can get picky during high pressure cold fronts and will ignore plastics.

This past weekend I used gulp alive. It outfished live minnows. For ever 1 crappie I caught on live bait, I caught 4 on Berkeley gulp alive. I was very impressed

I use the exact same plastics I use for ice fishing... My go-tos are the Northland Impulse Slug Bug and Mini Smelt. Occasionally I'll use the Bloodworm Wedgie too.

Am I the only guy left who uses a jig with a crawler piece? Looks like I have some new tings to try with my son.

Spring walleye - hard to beat a 3" Power grub or 3" Yum walleye grub. In the power grub the 2" size is still big enough for eye's too if want a smaller bait.

Gulp. 3" Watermelon Pearl. 1/16 oz jighead. 99.999% of the time. Haven't found much reason to use anything else Wink

Agree with Gulp 1" minnow. I also like the gulp Fish Fry in natural or chartreuse colors.

I have really started to favor plastics for panfish (gulp 1"). I would like to start using more plastics for Walleye on the rivers in the spring. Any suggestions? Keep hearing Kalens 4" Jerk Shad etc. Give me your thoughts.
