10” bluegill lakes!
I have two go to lakes for these type gills . One in Douglas county , the other in Bayfield county . I only fish them in early summer with a flyrod , keeping only a dozen each time out . Usually only fish these once or twice a year . These fish can be very vulnerable, so I limit how many I take . I once mentioned the name of one of these lakes in a report on LL , and, got a pm from a disgruntled resident wanting nobody to know about these fish .
jonah, read the thread. I said waukesha, milwaukee co. many of those lake have thin, longer gills. I'm not talking about the areas you mentioned. Esp not the winnebago chain, those are as wide most times as they are long.
As for 200 bluegill over 10, I know many many great panfisherman, you however are officially the best.
Beautiful healthy gills Hans! I do respect what you are saying, Long Barrels. There are lots of gills in Waukesha county that look like that between 9 and 10 inches. But this forum was about 10+ inch gills. When they get real long of tooth, those old gills start to get thinner. Too bad that doesn't work for me. I just keep gettin fatter. In 54 years of fishing, I only caught one 12 inch gill, in Minnesota. It was as thin as a dinner plate and looked like it was gonna keel over any minute
