Was thinking of going to try for White fish this next weekend. What is the best setup for them?

Wait till January of 2019.

You can get out now...ice is good.  But...get a guide.  You pay them for their knowledge of the ice.  Getting you out and back home safely is their first priority.

Fishing wise, I was up on Monday. It was tough.  Buddy and I got like 20 fish...in 4.5 hours.  Seemed like more fish were caught as we ventured out of the shack into "new" holes and ice.

Took the fish to Lindals to get cleaned.  Ran into guys there that said the bite was tougher for them too.  Lindals fish cleaners said that is the new normal right now.  They estimated that the Bay has 100,000 fewer whitefish in it this time of the year as opposed to early January and that has to effect the fishing.

Just food for thought.  If you go this year, be safe and temper those expectations.  It isn't as easy now as it was 8-9 weeks ago.

Still plenty of good ice there. Would recommend going with or following a guide out.
