Wondering if anyone is using vegetable oil instead of grease in their ice saws? Pros/Cons?

Canola oil was developed many decades ago for the purpose of lubricating machinery. However the canola oil and other veg oils tend to be highly refined resulting in too short of a hydrocarbon molecule to be a highly effective lubricant. Quality machine oils have very long, effectivley strong molecules. Not sure why you wouldnt use the manufacturers recomendation, you paid all that money for a special purpose saw that you use a few hours per year I see no reason to not treat it right and make it last 100 years.

I use white litheum grease for my regular saw and my sled saw.
