anyone have any tricks to prevent the transducer from freezing down into the plastic "pocket" built into the base?

Recon: that sounds pretty good to me. I have an old LX-3 that I sent in to have upgraded to a TC-3 some years ago at that time it cost me $50.00. That small of a gain setting for your small jig is good in my experience. I have to turn my higher depending on the depth. Before Marcum had snow shields/magnifiers I used a Vex shield - just ground down the plastic bars inside the shield and taped it on. Been on for 9 years.

also not to steal the forum but do the marcum covers work? it kinda sucks when snow gets in the screen and i cant get it out. And i never had problems where my transducer froze but you could put a cloth in the spot where it goes.

I always whipe the transducer on my bibs before putting away. And I put the extra cord in the side pocket.

Not to hijack a thread, but what do you guys do with your transducer cables, just stuff them under the flasher? I just got an lx3tc and have to turn the gain to 1.5/2 to see my small jigs. Normal?

Instead of laying the transducer puck flat into the pocket, I lay the puck on its side and put it in the pocket. It stays secure and haven't froze up since.

Could start your own thread and get more responses.

To the original question, never found a solution. I believe that "pocket" originally was foam padded on my unit. But with the ducer freezing to it all the time the foam has been ripped clean.

Just put in a brand new battery yesterday, thinking I'm just gonna send it in, cheaper to pay the flat rate than buy a ducer and possibly have that not be the problem. Once everything's all worked out anyone wanna trade me their lowrance?
