hoytpower, the old jiffy one- armbreaker had a zerk fitting installed on the gear case. In your gear case,  the grease may be simply low or dried out. A cheap fix would be drill & tap and install a zerk fitting.

Seems like my gear box is grinding. Mine is 20 years old. Just put a new set of blades on it. Anyone have gear work done or better to buy new?

I had lots of holes from my early purchase, when Strikemasters had metal handles. After over ten years of use it started to get weak so I brought it to my local Green Bay guy. He ground the valves and seats and it was like new again. Lots of small engine guys have a backlog of repairs now so be prepared to wait in line for a while. Now I change the blades at their first sign of wear. Hope it lasts another decade.
