fix the carb, sell the auger and start over...let someone else waste their time. I have never been able to recover a small engine once it starts having problems. I even sent my strikemaster auger up to them in summer for full tune up and it only worked once when I got it back.

I would leave it with a full tank. You wont have any condensation build-up that way. And they now sell premixed fuels with a 3 plus year shelf life. At the end of the year when you prep for storage just buy a can and fill your tank with it then run for a few minutes and you should be good to go when you fire it up the next fall to hit the ice. And yes ethanol is small engines is a bad thing. 80 percent of my business is carb work.
