If you are using a lead-acid gel-cell or AGM battery, they are designed to be left on float charge indefinitely. No issues leaving it on overnight, but I would not leave it on for weeks, personally.
If you have a digital voltmeter, you can disconnect the battery when it gets above 14.2V or so; it's done charging.

Most vexilar chargers have a light on them that indicates when your battery is charged. Old style has a red light that comes on at full charge. New style goes from red to green. If your charger does not have a light i would look into buying a charger that does. Over charging can damage your battery.
