I'm not going to worry about anything until deer season is over, maybe I'll get really lucky, shoot one, and head out on the lake in the afternoon.

I've been working on the shack, but everything else can wait until November.

LOL! No handwritten note for me seaguar. Just have no drive to go anymore. Plus I generally have the boat in the water 8 months a year, weather permitting. What I have invested in ice fishing is a waste anymore since i barely go. Used to go multiple times a week now a couple a season. Compare that to the fact that I've already had the boat in the water around 40x this year already. Rather cash in my ice fishing gear and put it toward something else.

Wednesday of gun deer season I was on the ice in Sawyer county, a lot of open water still but early ice spots had 2-4". I'm hoping to do the same this year. I'll head to northern MN if there's no ice in WI and I'm tagged out after opening weekend of hunting again.

161? That's being optimistic. That takes us to November 21. Last deer hunting season I was still open water fishing up in Land O Lakes.

Or are you heading north of WI?

Shading, are you going to make a handwritten note and post it in the Trading Post?

I am in no hurry for ice fishing, but hunting season sounds great. Even fall fishing after all the other people have gone back to their lives. When I have the lake mostly to myself.

Not that I want it to come soon.....but it will be easier to sell all my ice fishing stuff as it gets closer.

161 more days for me! 9 days until the days start getting shorter...

Had to go through some ice fishing lures to find some small spoons for trout fishing this past weekend, really got the itch going to get back on the hardwater!

Another 3 months or so until they'll start releasing the new products for the year too! That usually keeps me content reading reviews and pre-ordering until the snow flies.

Only time I've ever wanted to be ice fishing rather than soft water fishing was on Sunday in the sweltering heat when I realized I had to paddle my kayak 2 miles back to the boat landing.  Paddling the 2 miles to get to that spot wasn't so bad because I started early in the morning when temps were in the high 60's.  When I got back I was exhausted and drenched with sweat.

"Sure, open water is nice....but seeing a flag fly and that spool spinning when you know you are on a good spot....can't beat it!"
