I'm not going to worry about anything until deer season is over, maybe I'll get really lucky, shoot one, and head out on the lake in the afternoon.

I've been working on the shack, but everything else can wait until November.

I am a guy with a super weak stomach.  I get seasick on shore in rough conditions.  I can not ride passenger in a car without getting queezy.  So for me ice fishing is my only real way to get onto many bodies of water to fish.  I am so pumped for ice fishing.  I am streamlining my tackle and can not wait for ice.   I just picked fishing back up after about a 10 year hiatus.  Wasn't a real fan of river fishing until this year and there isn't great shore fishing in the Green Bay area other than the rivers.  So for me ice fishing is my focus.  I have a list of gear and pick up a piece here or there.  Last year I didn't have a plan.  This year I hope to really learn the bay better.

Sure, open water is nice....but seeing a flag fly and that spool spinning when you know you are on a good spot....can't beat it!

I love ice fishing but catching fish from a boat is great too. A pleasant calm evening watching slip bobbers disappear is a great time.

N.pike, I love you, man. But for Pete’s sake, even Dave Genz likes to fish open water, lol. He’d prolly want to be on that lake with the giant smallmouth you found. In a boat!

No more countdown needed. It's go time in Northern Wi. But, only on select waters. Most not safe yet.

I'm going out this weekend for sure, if not at the cabin than back at home. I am sure there is safe ice somewhere out there just have to find it. Just have to find the right sized lake.

Yes the yellow river flowage. I'm guessing Spooner lake is about a week or two behind that. I'm going to do some checking this weekend on some small lakesandwill post what I find

dbuchmann, I'll assume you're referring to the Yellow River flowage in Spooner? Any idea how Spooner Lake is looking?

I'm in SE WI but my wife's uncle lives in Beaver Brook.
