1st ice predictions for southern wi

What is your guess for 2018?

Was out Thursday and Friday afternoon on a small lake on the Racine/Walworth County line boarder. 3.5 inches of ice. Decent action. Ice is all gone now though....

My short term guess for my first ice lake in Waukesha county- Dec 6th. Some other small lakes in the area by the 8th

Anybody find safe ice in or near Waukesha county this week? No need to share the name of the lake. I just need some motivation to make the “cds  drive”

Or should I say “Wiscoarborist drive?”

There is ice for at least a few days to fish in S WI. Go check your first ice spots before it softens.

Slow and steady starting Sunday night. A lot of 40+ degree rain will set everything way back though.  Just like the snow jump started everything. 46 degree water temps to 37 lol.  It goes both ways. We'll see what happens but it's close 

Me and a whole bunch of other guys are hoping you are right, Big Musky. I thought maybe this year would be Iike the one just a few fall’s ago when I was ice fishing Waukesha county the day before Deer gun season started. But temps never got low enough at night. We need some zero to 10 degree weather 

I really didn’t want to make this statement, but looks like there will be very little safe ice before December. Checked the usual first ice lakes in my area and nothing more than 2 inches. Warm weather and rain coming.....

You will be out there on Pewaukee Friday in the boat, USAbrams. Whole west side of the lake was wide open when I drove by yesterday 

I seen some reports of guys fishing in the far south eastern part of the state on 2-3 inches, no thanks not for me

There are some who've ventured out around La Crosse already, but I'm guessing ice I'm okay with will be the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of December.  A couple days in the mid 40s at end of the week then cold again rest of week. 

A few buddys and I have plans on Musky fishing Pewaukee on friday. Hoping for one more shot.

My first ice lake in Waukesha county making less than 1/4 inch ice a night. 1 3/4 inches now and warm weather coming. Does not look good. I will try to go out Thanksgiving morning, but probably have to turn back. 

Does 40 degrees make much difference?   Look at the hourly. 75 percent of the day is below freezing.  If the wind stops and it freezes could happen fast.   56 of the next 240 hours are predicting above freezing.  Could be wishful thinking

There will be 4 days in the 40s between now and Thanksgiving. Its going to be awhile yet.

I'm going with Thanksgiving day in the lacrosse area.  Going to get down to 12 again at night. Should be no problem
