I have two 10 foot diver rods but im looking to add another one, but im not sure Should i get a 9 or 8'6 foot rod. I was thinking the 9 foot for the longer leader but would the 9 foot be to close and get tangled or would the 8'6 be a better bet and have a lesser chance at getting tangled?? Thank you in advance.

6" probably isn't going to make a difference in getting tangled or not. The setting on the dipsey and how you let it out will have more bearing on tangle issues. You want the dipsey rods to reach past your outside DR. If the outside dipsey rod is longer than the inside it makes life easier too. You didn't mention size of boat but 9-10' rods can be a PIA in a smaller boat.

With two ten footers you should be set. Everyones boat and set up is different. I have a ten foot stainless wire rig and a long power pro rod that I can use for both discs, or pound ball set ups. Longer rods definitely make it easier to deploy a dypsey.
