For those of you who have a 200 foot copper, what reel do you have it on and with approx. how much backing?  Also, are you using 32# or #45 pound?  Looking to add that to my spread and would like to know what reel to purchase.  Thanks.

We run 32# Blood Run copper w/1000 ft of 40 lb PP backing on an Okuma Convector 45 DS. It is a high speed reel and has a very smooth drag.

The Blood Run is tinned so it glides through the guides smoother with less friction. We also use the Okuma copper rods with polished SS guides.

This rig was what the guy who fixes my reels said," some old timers use moocher reels for 30 pound wire and pound balls." I tried it for a while with the wire but changed it to 200ft. of 30# copper. The reel was a gimme from a friend and is kind of a pain to reel in but moocher reels do have good disc drag systems. Just throwing out some alternative copper ideas. I have dacron backing on this rig.

I use a Penn 330 . With 45lb copper . I use Dacron Ice  fishing line for backing . It works just fine .

My Okuma Coldwater 45's have 200' of copper and 235 yards of 65# Power Pro on a taped arbor.

I would never use that much mono behind super line because it can rot and if you get into it the whole rig is gone.

I have my 200 copper on a okuma convector 45. With the 200 ft, then 450 ft of 50lb power pro, and 650 ft of 30 lb mono. We had a 26 pound king on Saturday. Sure was glad I had 1100 ft of backing, it took 900 of it out.
