From what I understand, a 49 yr. old man was staying at Burhops and rented the pontoon and was out by himself and either fell in or was taking a dip and drown. He was said to be a good swimmer but the under tow and currents can be surprising. I am not one to mandate laws, but life preservers are looked at as a nuisance. This year I purchased a new one for 119.00 that inflates automatically if I fall in and should get knocked out and can't pull the cord. I took it to Canada and wore it every time I was on the water. I was the only one in the boat who wore one and the rest of the preservers were stowed. My brother-in-law even remarked "You are overly cautious!

another tragedy, the wisconsin is not something to mess with. Hopefully someday people will learn from the ill fates of others to give her the respect she deserves. RIP and godspeed to the lost.
