KAMO is a Wisconsin-based non-profit organization that gets kids off their earbuds and into the outdoors. Never before has there been such a substantial need for adults to pass their outdoor skills on to a younger generation that has become disconnected with nature. KAMO has 5 chapters - Florence, Ladysmith, New Lisbon, Baraboo, La Crosse/ Onalaska. Kamokids.org is the group's website and provides details, contact information and photos of the group's activities. KAMO is unique in that members of the group plan, organize, and finance activities year around. These activities can be done one on one, small or large group. KAMO mentors are encouraged to contribute the time what they can comfortably give and are not pushed for more. KAMO has been popular and can always use new mentors who bring their ideas and energy to the group. The La Crosse group I'm a memeber of could use some people for Learn to Hunts or other mentored hunting experiences for events on the river and local Mississippi Valley properties. We are open to someone who may have horses or places to camp as that is what our kids are asking for.I will try to post our activities on here once in a while.

Kids painting our trailer at Goose Island County Park on July 26th. Even with high water, heat, and mosquitoes, the kids had such a good time and want to do it again and soon. Come visit us on facebook (Coulee KAMO).

Coulee KAMO had 77 people come in for our pontoon ride event, 29 for our fishing event, and 31 for our peddle and paddle event.

We are excited about the quality of our outings and the number people attending them.

What does the Coulee Chapter Of need?

More kids!!!

Our kids are aging out - going into the workforce and/ or becoming adults.

The La Crosse area Kids and Mentors Outdoors (Coulee KAMO) would be willing to help a Vernon County Sportsman's or conservation group put together a youth fishing event this summer. "Help" means financial, advertising, and coordination support.

We would also consider helping a new KAMO Chapter get off to a start in the southwest corner of Wisconsin by providing funding for the chapter's first few activities.

Let's get some kids introduced to the outdoors!

Send me a message for more details.

KAMO in the Coulee Region has grown to 20 mentors and over 50 kids.

We could use some mentors to take kids out ice fishing or skiing.

K.A.M.O. is always looking for outdoors - minded men and women who are willing to share their time with a youth. Mentors can either participate in our group outings or if you want a fishing or hunting buddy, we have a list of families to contact. Must have a background check and read a short training manual. We are about equally divided male and female, both with kids and mentors. We are growing and there is probably a chapter near you. Currently we could use some mentors in Black River Falls and La Crosse. This group is fun and rewarding to be in and is low-pressure in terms of expectations.

KAMO has a Youth Shooting Day at the West Salem Rod and Gun Club from 1-4 on Saturday, August 1st. This is a great time to bring your child to shoot that bow, rifle, or shotgun they got for Christmas. Free. Archery, clays, .22's. KAMO will have some equipment there to use. Contact Mike at 608-799-5037 if interested.
