What kind of impact do you think it would have if we followed suit of neighboring states. And only allowed muzzle loaders and shotguns. Do you think it would help the deer herd?

Lake shiner spot in brother. While I love to hunt big bucks that is my choice alone. I want people to have a good time and shoot deer and while we are on the topic of big big bucks I have 3 that broke the 150 but the funny thing is they have all come off public ground that gets hammered so when people say you can't have big bucks when people shoot all the small ones is a bunch of hog wash. I would like to see one tag for bow ether sex and one for gun ether sex when you use it your done. And this nonsense of public or private and which county that's a joke. I know guys who have like 10 tags for bow and ten for gun. This holier then thou attitude has got to stop, it's killing our sport

I'm all for people shooting whatever floats their boat. However when the large gun groups that drive every chunk they can get into. Shoot every buck they can, then they whine about not seeing any nice bucks. Those are the types that chap my hide. These are also the guys that whine about those of us that choose to just stand hunt our land. Then when we shoot nice deer they criticize us. Yet we are not to have an opinion on the way they hunt?

It is only natural that guys that want to shoot mature deer don't like the idea that some people shoot small ones. Ask a musky guy how he feels about other anglers keeping and eating muskies. You can't catch a big one if somebody eats it when it is 40 inches. Same with bucks. You won't have big mature deer if everybody wacks them. This is nothing new or just applying to deer hunting. It is a question of how the resource should be managed. There are valid points on all sides. Mrt.

All I hear is talk of limiting hunting opportunities, we are supposed to be fighting to expand them.....Folks, I have been deer hunting for 38 years and I have only shot 16 bucks......none are what the TV folks call trophies, but to me they all have a story that I can tell proudly. Leave my opportunities alone and hunt your own way.

"Unfortunate I think that many of the cable hunting shows have also helped poison the sport with this horn porn mentality. " Not for everyone, but it definitely happened to a number of people. There are 2 kinds of big buck hunters. One targets mature deer but is also happy to see others shoot what makes them happy. The other type is the kind who turns up their nose to anyone who opposes them, they are typically really arrogant and treat people like dirt who do not conform to their beliefs. Both are represented on this site pretty clearly. Others have said it already, but I'm 30 and hunting has changed drastically since I was a kid. Its really no shock that hunter recruitment is down and they have to try all these new gimmicks. If you were a non-hunter looking to get into the sport, all you have to do is read through this thread and it will be a huge turn off. Lots of 'Me Me Me' attitudes compared to years ago. Take for instance this 2 bucks a year non-sense. Most guys don't shoot 2 bucks a year. Let me say that again, most guys don't shoot 2 bucks a year. Eliminating that won't do a heck of a lot. Just think about it for one second. What it would cause is the loss of revenue as less guys gun hunt, so we'd have an economic impact. People would not see a real improvement so then you'll be on to the next thing that someone tells you to complain about. You know that's true, you'll read something and then say, yeah that sounds good. Don't believe me? Look at baiting, went on for years with higher deer numbers. Then we shot all the does thanks to all the doe tags and many were brainwashed into thinking baiters shot all the deer. It was crazy some of the lines people came up with who clearly had no experience with it. Baiting gets banned, with some CWD help, but things don't improve because does are still being shot. So on to the next crazy idea and just ignore the only one that makes real sense. Doesn't anyone realize that before all the doe tags, people got along better? Before Lee and Tiffany, people got along better. If you need a new idea though, we could ban hunting during the rut. It would save a lot of bucks. We already do it for gamefish so it would be basically the same thing. Tounge Out
