I had idea the other night, to the best of my knowledge it's illegal to barter wild game regardless of what it is you're bartering for. Well what if the DNR created an exception which allowed legally taken wild game to be bartered for other legally taken wild game? For example, let's say an avid duck hunter has his freezer filled with his procession limit of duck, but deer season doesn't go too well for him. On the other hand, there's an avid deer hunters who filled his buck tag along with his anterless tag. The deer hunter has a craving for duck, but unfortunately for him he doesn't go duck hunting often. In your opinion, should the duck hunter be able to give the deer hunter a few ducks in exchange for a few pounds of venison? Why or why not?

I give away all the fish I catch all winter to older friends who cant fish any more. I ask for nothing in return. one guy makes me a ice cream pail of soup or booyah every year one guy made me a homemade turkey call. another gives me some pulled pork when he makes a batch.

If you have enough game to barter away you shouldn't have shoot it in the first place.

Bartering is a dirty word for the IRS. Rather than bartering, a gift of venison from one person to another could result in a gift of ducks to the venison giver.

Yeah people obviously do it. But do you think the DNR should specifically state that's it's legal?

I don't know if its legal but I hear about people "trading" things like walleye for elk and stuff like that. I actually think its fairly common between friends.
