I understand crappie fishing can be pretty good on Lake Winnebago in the springtime as people target them in the shallows during the spring, but can anybody share their knowledge and experience with locating and catching crappies on Lake Winnebago during the summer and fall? I know some people report catching some incidental crappies while trolling for other species, but how and where do you find substantial numbers of crappies in specific locations and what methods do you employ to be successful? I'm just trying to gauge if it is worth the drive to target crappies with any reasonable expectation of catching them in numbers. Thanks in advance!

Once they disperse it is pretty tough. In a lot of smaller lakes they will school up in deep water late in the fall but I haven't experienced or heard of that happening here. When trolling we will get one here and there but they seem to school up very loosely. That is what I have found but others may have something for you. Mrt.
