john has a great show...
I grew up in that neck of the woods. I only saw one walleye caught on the show (I fast forward a lot) and I know right where the eye was caught. Fished that area a ton. Smallies came from the same lake. Big Portage. There are weeds in that lake, you just need to know where they are. Find them and you find the summer eyes. Smallies are good in that lake, but I'd say that there are better smallie lakes within 10 miles of Big Portage.
One thing I've always loved about BP...if the fishing isn't great, it is amazing water to swim in. Crystal clear. Clean. Fun to take boat ride on when the fishing isn't so hot. Launch is a little bit of a pain. My old man and I sunk our boat in the launch there once. Crazy story. Truly we were Boat Launch Idiots! We even were stalked by a rabid fox on one occasion.
I know that area and I couldn't figure it out. John mentioned 3 Lakes, Conover and Land O. That's quite an expanse. LVD or North/South Twin?
You still gotta find `em and catch `em EVEN if you know what lake it is.
That was a good show; Matt B is a great guest. Some damn nice looking walleyes and bronzebacks.
Anyone know when jg fishes sturgeon bay where the area is that is got the little trees sticking out of the water.it looks to be like a bay sort of??it appears to be a shallower area where they catch some bass??I fish here a lot and never seen this area .I was wondering if this was south of little sturgeon bay maybe by chadoirs.I'd like to fish it but can't figure out the land features.he's been there many times.if anyone knows this area and can comment here thanks .
Good show today. John told us where he was fishing, plus he showed us what he was using. I’m not going to go there fishing, but it’s interesting to know. His daughter is doing a good job on the show with advertising, plus she is getting better at fishing. I’m sure he is a proud father.
